Professor Venansius Baryamureeba serves as Chairperson of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Council. He is a Professor of Computer Science and holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science, M.Sc. Mathematics, Bsc (Hons) and among other qualifications. He began his working career at Makerere University where he served as Director, Dean and finally Vice Chancellor before moving on to start Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) where he served as the Founding (1st) Vice Chancellor.
He has served as Chairperson of: Board of Directors of UTAMU; Board of Trustees of UTAMU; Council of MUBS; Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board; Uganda Vice-Chancellors Forum; Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa Innovation Council; Research and Education Network of Uganda; and Appointments Board of Busitema University among others
Mr. Isaac Mubarak Ngobya represents the Business Community on the Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Council. He is the Deputy Chairperson of the Council of MUBS, the governing body of the School and also sits on the Audit Committee as well as Finance, Planning and General Purposes Committee. He has accumulated board experience over the years and serves as a Non-Share Holder Director of Hotel Africana. He is a member of the Disciplinary Committee of Hotel Africana, Member, Board of Governors, Nabisunsa Girls Secondary School, Chairperson, Finance Committee, Nabisunsa Girls and Member, Board of Governors, Masaka Senior Secondary School. Isaac has served as a member of the previous council term (2012-2016).
He is an accomplished engineer and has had a hand in the construction/installation of key establishments in the Country.
Prof. Waswa Balunywa is a Management, Leadership and Entrepreneurship Scholar. He is currently the Principal of Makerere University Business (MUBS), a position he has held since 1999 to date. He served Makerere University (MAK) from 1983 as a Lecturer and rose through the ranks to become the Head of the Department of Finance and Accounting, and then Dean of Faculty of Commerce, before becoming the Principal of MUBS. He holds a PhD in Entrepreneurship, Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Commerce. Over the period of his career, Prof. Balunywa has been a member of various Boards of public and private entities in the Country which include; Bank of Uganda, Century Bottling Company and many others. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Kakira Sugar Works. He once served as the Chairman of Uganda Airlines Board.
Prof Moses Muhwezi is presently the Acting Deputy Principal of MUBS. He has served the School for 20 years and has risen through the ranks before becoming the Acting Deputy Principal. He is a Procurement specialist and holds a PhD in Procurement, Master of Philosophy, Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Commerce. He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Management.
Francis joined MUBS in 2001 as Administrative Assistant. He rose through the ranks to the position of Human Resource Manager in 2007, and then School Secretary in 2012. Francis holds an MBA and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. He is a Certified Human Resource Analyst and a Fellow of the American Academy of Projects Management (AAPM). He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA), and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD, United Kingdom).
He also holds a postgraduate qualification in Organizational and Employee Development (OED) from the University of Queensland, Australia and the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He is a member of the Human Resource Managers Association of Uganda (HRMAU). As School Secretary, Francis is responsible to the MUBS Council and is responsible for general administration of the School, including the custody of the seal and administration of its assets.
Ms. Shifrah Lukwago is a Council member appointed from the Public. She is also the Chairperson of the Students’ Affairs Committee of Council and is a member of the School Appointments Board.
Shifrah is an enrolled Advocate of Courts of Judicature in Uganda and is the Chairperson, Finance, Planning and Administration Committee, Uganda Law Society. Shifrah represents Council on the MUBS Retirement Benefits Scheme, where she serves as a Trustee.
Rev. Prof Sam Luboga is the Former Deputy Dean former Faculty of Medicine. He is a Government appointee on the MUBS Council where he serves as the Chairperson, Appointments Board Committee of the School Council, and a member of the Audit Committee of Council. Samuel holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degree, a Master in Medicine, and a Doctor of Philosophy, Makerere University. Samuel is an anatomist, surgeon, and educator. He is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Society, Anatomical Society Great Britain, Anatomical Society Ireland, Association of Surgeons of East Africa, Association of Surgeons Uganda, Uganda Medical Association.
He served as a teaching staff at Makerere University spanning a period of over 20 years where he rose through the ranks from Assistant Lecturer to the level of Associate Professor. He has been a Visiting professor at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and at Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia.
Samuel is a Reverend and a Curate at Namirembe Cathedral. He has served on a number of boards and is presently the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Sanyu Babies Home, Chairman Board of Trustees, Mildmay Uganda, Chairman Board of Directors, International Needs Network Uganda. He is also the Founding Chairman of St. Stephen’s Hospital where he serves as the Project Coordinator Treasurer.
Dr. Tom O. Okurut is a Natural Resources Management Specialist with over 18 years practical and managerial work experience in environmental resources sector. Presently, Dr. Okurut is the Executive Director of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA). He holds a PhD in Environmental Science and Technology, an Msc Degree in Environmental Science and Technology, Msc in Physical Sciences, Post-Graduate Diploma in Renewable Energy Sources Engineering, and a Bsc (Hons).
He is a Council member appointed from the Public. He is the Chairperson of the Finance, Planning and General Purposes Committee of Council and is a member of the School Appointments Board.
Hon. (Rtd) Lt. Col. Dr. Bright K. Rwamirama is presently the Member of Parliament for Isingiro North Constituency and the Minister of State for Veteran Affairs in the Uganda government.
He holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Humanities, Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He represents the Alumni of the School on the MUBS Council. Hon. (Rtd) Lt. Col. Rwamirama is a member of the Students’ Affairs Committee and is also a member of the Finance, Planning and General Purposes Committee of Council.
Dr. Michael Kansiime is the Head of Africa Institute for Strategic Services and Development (AFRISA). He also serves as the Programs Development Manager and Board Secretary of AFRISA. He is a Government appointee on the MUBS Council and sits on the Finance Planning and General Purposes Committee as well as the Student Affairs Committee of Council. Michael is a Veterinary Doctor, a teacher and an MBA graduate. Michael’s experience and knowledge on Organisational Development and Organisational Behavior, how government works, how to run business, networks and partnerships coupled with his creativity and innovation have been a great asset to the development of AFRISA. Michael is a partner in Farmers Planet Limited that offers consultancy services in the Agriculture and Livestock, a practicing farmer owning Canan Country Farms, producing milk in Kampala City and Bushenyi District.
Michael used to be a Lecturer on the Master of Livestock Development Planning Program at the College of Veterinary Medicine Animal Resources and Bio-security (Makerere University).
Professor John David Kabasa is the Principal of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Biosecurity at Makerere University and the founding Director of the Africa Institute for Strategic Animal Resource Services and Development (AFRISA). He is a Government appointee on the MUBS Council and sits on the Finance, Planning and General Purposes Committee of Council.
Professor Kabasa gained his PhD at Goettingen University in Germany and his veterinary medicine degree from Makerere University. He is a visiting Professor in a number of African and Western Universities. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he holds a variety of development positions in Uganda including: member of the Advisory Committee for the Implementation of the Africa Union Strategic plan for Animal Resources Development, national coordinator The New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Council Chapter, national task force member on Avian Influenza , Chair of the National Biodiversity Committee for the National Environment Management Authority, Chair of the Agricultural and Water Resources Task Force on Climate Change. He is also the Chair of the Uganda Veterinary Board and the academic director of a number of regional and ACP research and training networks. Professor Kabasa plays leading roles in a number of public and private partnerships that draw together commercial, governmental and academic interests in public and ecosystem health, urban and rural economic development.
Moses is the Nakawa I – Local Council V Councilor at Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA). He represents KCCA on the MUBS Council. He is a member the Finance, Planning and General Purposes Committee of Council as well as the Student Affairs Committee of Council. He represents Council on the School Student’s Disciplinary Committee.
He holds a Diploma in Mental Health Nursing and also possesses a number of Certificates in the discipline of Mental Health and Psychology.
Moses is passionate about making a difference in lives of the people that he serves and is the Projects Director, Rotary Club of Bugolobi.
Mr. Daniel Waiswa Kimuda is a Co-opted member on the Audit Committee of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Council. Mr. Kimuda is a Multi-disciplinary Consultant with particular interest in accounting, financial management and auditing. He served as the Chairperson of the Audit Committee of MUBS Council for the period 2008-2016.
Daniel holds a Master of Business Administration from Uganda Martyrs University, a Bachelors degree in Commerce from University of Nairobi. He is a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Rubaga a subsidiary of Rotary International.
Dr. Mohammed Ngoma is a Senior Lecturer and Dean Fac ulty of Graduate Studies and Research. He represents Academic Board on the MUBS Council. He is also a member of the Student Affairs Committee of Council.
He holds a PhD in Business Administration, a Master of Science in Marketing and a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Makerere University.
He has served in various administrative capacities in the School including but not limited to: Faculty Coordinator and Head of Business Administration Department.
Prof Moya Musa is the Dean Faculty of Computing and Management Science. He represents MUBS Academic Board on Council.
He is also a member on the Appointments Board Committee of Council.
He is an Associate Professor of Computing and Statistics.
He is the country representative of the Operations Research Society of Eastern Africa (ORSEA) and Chairman ORSEA-Uganda Chapter. He sits on a number of boards and has been a member of the MUBS Council since 2003 to date.
Ms. Goretti Byomiire is a Lecturer in the Department of Business Computing. She represents staff with disabilities on the MUBS Council. She holds a Masters degree in Information Technology and Bachelors Degree in Business Computing from Makerere University.
She is the Acting Coordinator, MUBS Disability Resource and Learning Centre.
He is the Assistant Commissioner/Social Services Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. He represents the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Developm ent on the Makerere University Business School Council. He sits on the Finance, Planning and General Purposes Committee and the Audit Committee of Council. He Hold a Masters in Economic Policy Management (MAK), Post Graduate Diploma in Education (MAK) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (MAK). He is the Head of Social Services unit of the Ministry. He is a policy analyst and oversees the preparation of the sector budget framework papers, budget estimates and analysis of budget performance, appraises monitoring and evaluation of projects, coordinating the design and execution of the country programmes and prepares the development budget release.
Mr. James Mwesigye is a member of the Council of MUBS, the governing body of the University. He represents the National Union of Disabled People in Uganda (NUDIPU). He is the Chairperson Audit Committee, and a member of the School Appointments Board Committee of Council. He has a wealth of knowledge that has been accumulated while serving on the School Council since 2004.
Mr. Mwesigye is also a member of the Christian Men’s Fellowship of Namirembe Diocese. He has served as the Executive Director, National Union of Disabled People in Uganda (NUDIPU). Presently he is a Development and Disabilities Consultant in the Country.
Timothy is the Acting Principal Education Officer/Higher Education at the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES). He provides appropriate advice to policy makers, higher education institutions and other stakeholders. Timothy represents the MoES on the MUBS Council. He sits on the Appointments Board Committee of Council and the Finance, Planning and General Purposes Committee of Council. He is an educationist with a wealth of experience in the education sector. He specifically liaises with government bodies and private sector to establish skills gaps in accordance with identified needs, facilitate the development of relevant curricular.
He holds a Graduate Diploma in Leadership Development in ICT and the Knowledge Society, Educational Leadership and Administration. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts with Education from Makerere University.
